Step-by-step instructions for musicians to join, set up accounts, and upload songs.

Step 2: Set up your profile

Once logged in, head to your profile and make the necessary edits. This is also where you can change your profile picture. Enter your phone number, bank details, and add links to your social media accounts in the designated fields. These details will be used for payments, either through bank transfer or mobile money. Tag artists whose style you feel is similar to yours.

Step 3: Events

Complete the form with details about your upcoming events, including the location, time, and any other relevant information. This will help keep your fans informed and excited about what's coming up.

Step 1: Sign Up and Verify

Complete the sign-up form with the required information. Then, log into your email and verify your email address by clicking the link that has been sent to you.

Upload Your Songs

Follow these steps to successfully upload your songs to our streaming platform.

Step 2: Create An Album

For every song you upload you need to create an Album first, This will mean you choosing from the drop down menu, whether its an EP, single or Album.

Step 4: Uploading Your Song

You will not be able to upload any song unless you have credit in your account. The cost varies depending on the promotion we have running at the time.

Step 1: Songwriter/Producer

Before you start uploading any songs you need to add yourself as a songwriter by clicking writer in the left panel. The same has to be done for whoever has produced the song. This only has to be done once. If you are unable to add a producer, there is a chance he is already in the system, search in the drop down menu, on the Add song form.

Step 3: Buy Credit

Fill in the song meta data from top to bottom, making sure you tag the relevant contributors wherever necessary. If it is showing pre existing information from your previous upload, refill the info otherwise you will not be able to upload. If uploading old songs, ensure you put the original date the song was released. This help us recommend your music to the right audience.

Who can join Mayani Music?

Anyone that creates music. As long as your target audience is those that love Malawian music, this platform is for you - This includes record labels too, they can create an account and manage their own artists.

Do I Need to set up Producer/songwriter profile every time I upload a song?

If you are using the same producer and songwriter then no, If you are using a new producer then yes, However also check that the producer name is not already in the database. As they might be new to you, but already added by someone else.

Is the Platform free to join

YES- You do not have to pay anything to join Mayani Music.

I have a huge Discography, do you offer services of uploading it all?

Yes we do and charge k25,000 for the service. We try to ensure that the full catalogue is live within 14 days

Why Has My song been taken down?

We are constantly monitoring our platform to ensure we give the best service. There are a couple reasons for why a song can be taken down. 1. Copyright infringement, 2. How much do I get paid?

We pay out k750 per a 1000 streams

I am a Producer, Do I need an account?

Yes you do? The journey does not end once you sell the beat to an artist. At Mayani music we ensure your composition royalties are generated every time a song you produced is played. Having an account with us ensure you get paid for every beat you produce and can monitor how your songs are doing on a daily basis.

Does it cost me anything?

We charge an upload of fee of K2600 per song, however the fees are different for an album which we offer a discount. Reach out to our team at support@mayanimusic.com when you are ready to upload an album. We are happy to assist you

Song Not uploading/Wrong format

Our platform only accepts mp3 format.

I produced a song, but have not been credited as a producer

We highly recommend you sign a contract with an artist every time you produce a song for them. This ensures that they legally adhere to the terms in the contract, one which will be they have to name you on the production credits. However mistakes, errors happen. Someone has covered my Song, do I get paid?

Yes- but this depends on how the cover has been done. If someone has just sung your song, then, whoever wrote the song gets paid. But if some raps/sings over a beat, then whoever produced the original beat, will be paid. The same applies to sampling

What kind of royalties do we pay?

We pay both Mechanical (Producer and Songwriter) and performance (Artist)royalties
